A dance in the asylum.
The Charlotte Cordays.
The death of Marat.
With seven "Charlotte Corday's", five "Simonne's" and projected video sequences this was to be anything but a standard interpretation of the text.

When the directors expressed their desire to stage the play as a promenade performance, I suggested that the audience could be shepherded into an enclosed space with the inmates of the asylum. From this starting point I devised a stark white box in which audience and inmates intermingled and on occasion drawn into the action. There was nowhere to hide!
